Quickstart-Guide LegalOpinion

The LegalOpinion function allows users to enter a legal case and ask a question about it. They can also specify relevant legal norms and define their own examination schemes. A legal opinion is then prepared on this basis, supported by data from the knowledge base. The selection of this data can be customised under ‘Specify knowledge base’.

Parameters

For each query, the knowledge base must be specified as precisely as possible in advance. This restriction makes the query more precise. In particular, only those examination schemes from MyData that are both selected and classified with the document type ‘Examination Scheme’ are used to check legal norms. Click on ‘Specify Knowledge Base’. This will take you to the MyData page, where you can select files and upload new files if required. After clicking on Submit, the parameters for your subsequent questions are preset.

Asking a legal question

When using the LegalOpinion function, three parameters must be taken into account: (1) a description of the legal case, (2) the question to be asked and, if applicable, (3) the relevant legal norms or examination schemes. When describing the legal case, it is important to present the facts clearly and concisely and to include all relevant details. Then formulate the question, e.g. ‘Does A have a claim for damages against B according to § 823 I BGB?’ or ‘What is the legal situation?’ In the field ‘Schema’, specific examination schemes and legal norms to be examined can be explicitly specified. If no specific information is provided and no data from MyData is added that was classified with the document type ‘examination scheme’ when uploaded, the general LLM knowledge is automatically added. Then click on the ‘Submit’ button.

Answer

On the basis of the information entered and the selected or found examination schemes, a detailed legal opinion is then prepared, supported by relevant data from the knowledge database. Depending on the size of the files to be queried, this usually takes a few seconds. The output is divided into two parts: First, a compact version is displayed that checks the requirements of the respective legal norms. This is followed by a more detailed description in which the case, the question and the examination schemes are taken up again. The relevant facts are examined and a legal assessment is provided.

By clicking on ‘Start new request’, the legal opinion is stored under Sessions and can be accessed again later together with the entries in the input mask.
