Quickstart-Guide MyData

In MyData, data can be uploaded to your personal knowledge base and selected for use in various applications.

Data selection

A brief overview of how to filter data:

  1. The legal system (e.g. Germany) under which the question is to be examined.
  2. The area of law (e.g. tenancy law) under which the question is to be examined.
  3. A specially created file folder (e.g. project XY) in which specific literature has been stored (if available).
  4. The document types to be used for the query. In the database, a distinction is made between: legal text, legislative material, court decision, commentary, textbook, examination scheme, essay, definition, model case and contract. Document types that are not relevant should be removed.
  5. The law book (e.g. BGB) that is to be examined in the question. Various laws are stored in our database. To ensure that a specific check can be carried out, all laws that are not relevant to the question should be removed.
  6. The paragraph to be examined in the question. Our database contains legal documents on various legal norms. To ensure that a specific check can be carried out, all norms that are not relevant to the question should be removed. Furthermore, it is possible to narrow down the search to specific paragraphs.
  7. The temporal scope of the standard, to ensure that the regulation is only applied if it is valid in the corresponding time span.
  8. Finally, you can specify the maximum file size for the data to be included. The selected documents are displayed after clicking Submit. The ‘Select Columns’ button can be used to control which parameters are displayed. In addition, specific documents can be excluded using the ‘In Knowledge Base’ column to focus the query on specific documents.

Upload files

This feature allows documents to be added to the database to optimise the processing and output of legally relevant content. After selecting the files to be uploaded, they should be categorised to store the data in a structured way. Each file can have a maximum size of 50MB. Supported formats are DOCX, PDF and TXT. Single or multiple documents can be uploaded at the same time. Parameters for narrowing down the search:

  • The legal system relevant to the source.
  • The area of law relevant to the source.
  • The respective document type (legal text, legislative material, court decision, commentary, textbook, examination scheme, essay, definition, model case or contract)
  • The respective legal norm addressed in the source
  • Relevant keywords such as ‘liability’, ‘damages’ etc.
  • The temporal scope of application of the standard, to ensure that the regulation is only applied if it is valid in the corresponding time span. The more specific the categorisation, the better for later queries.

Tabular display of uploaded files

The table displays the available files (filtered by the selected columns) and can be filtered and sorted. Furthermore, you can search for specific files. Uploaded files can also be deleted here.
